The Watsonville Library and Watsonville Parks and Community Services facilitate the Teen Action Council.
TAC Mission Statement
The mission of Watsonville Teen Action Council (TAC) is to inspire the diverse local youth to advocate for change in their community. By organizing events and programs, and participating in local government, TAC aims to increase social and emotional wellness and develop youth leaders.
Volunteering for the TAC
If you are a teen in grades 8th - 12th, we invite you to apply. TAC provides teens in the Watsonville community the opportunity to build valuable leadership skills, earn community service hours, receive a $1,200 stipend, and get hands-on job skills and college-readiness training.
TAC allows youth to get experience that reflect those similar in local government and participate in real committees by filling one of the following roles on the council.
Chair (two members will be co-chairs)
• Develop the agenda for and preside over the Teen Action Council Meetings.
• Motivates board members to attend meetings and actively participate
• Represent the Teen Action Council at events and other meetings as needed.
• Measure R and Measure Y Committee Representatives.
Treasurer
• Assist with maintain financial records of the Teen Action Council.
• Prepare financial reports for meetings of Teen Action Council.
• Assist with sales as necessary.
• Represent the Teen Action Council at events and other meetings as needed.
Secretary
• Prepare agendas for meetings.
• Take and distribute minutes of meetings.
• Represent the Teen Action Council at events and other meetings as needed.
Marketing Chair
• Work with City of Watsonville Staff to create and publish Teen Action Council marketing materials.
• Work with City of Watsonville Staff to update the Teen Action Council webpage
• Assist with City of Watsonville marketing as needed.
• Represent the Teen Action Council at events and other meetings as needed.
Library Board Representative
• Serve as a liaison between the Teen Action Council and Library Board of Trustees.
• Attend Monthly Library Board of Trustees meetings.
• Represent the Teen Action Council at events and other meetings as needed.
Parks & Community Services Commission Representative
• Serve as a liaison between the Teen Action Council and Parks and Recreation Commission
• Attend Monthly Parks and Recreation Commission meetings.
• Represent the Teen Action Council at events and other meetings as needed.
Community Development Representative
• Serves as a liaison between Teen Action Council and the Community Development Department
• Attends General Plan Meetings
• Represent the Teen Action Council at events and other meetings as needed
