We will be holding a community meeting on Tuesday, May 2, from 5-7 PM in the Civic Plaza’s Community Room (275 Main Street, top floor) to discuss our AB 481 annual report for 2022.
Assembly Bill 481 took effect on January 1, 2022, and seeks to provide transparency, oversight, and an opportunity for meaningful public input on decisions regarding whether and how military equipment is funded, acquired, or used by law enforcement agencies in the State of California.
The report is expected to be available online at watsonvillepd.com in the coming weeks. It will be a partial report, as tracking was not required until the policy and ordinance were passed by Council and only encompasses the calendar year of 2022.

El Proyecto de Ley 481 de la Asamblea entró en vigencia el 1 de enero de 2022 y busca brindar transparencia, supervisión y una oportunidad para una contribución pública significativa sobre las decisiones con respecto a si las agencias del orden público financian, adquieren o utilizan equipos militares en el Estado de California.
Se espera que el informe esté disponible en línea en watsonvillepd.com en las próximas semanas. Será un informe parcial, ya que no se requirió el seguimiento hasta que el Concilio aprobó la política y la ordenanza y sólo abarca el año calendario de 2022.
