[ARCHIVED] New City of Watsonville Administrative Services Director Appointed

M DURAN APPOINTMENT


Watsonville City Manager René Méndez has appointed Marissa Duran as the City’s new Administrative Services Director. 


Duran has been a longstanding City of Watsonville employee and began her career in the Finance Department in 1996 as a Financial Analyst and Accountant, where she maintained the City's accounting system and performed various analytical functions. 


In 2020, she was promoted to Assistant Finance Director and oversaw the day-to-day operations, including accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and prepared the City’s Comprehensive Report. In late 2022, Marissa became the Interim Administrative Services Director. 


“I am truly honored and excited to accept the appointment and position as the Administrative Services Director for the City of Watsonville,” said Duran. “I am looking forward to continuing to work with such an amazing team of people and continue to serve the great City of Watsonville.”

  

As Administrative Services Director, Marissa will oversee all aspects of the City’s financial management, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, and more. 


“We are fortunate to have such an immensely talented and qualified individual within the organization to assume the helm of this important position,” said Méndez. “Over her career, Marissa has worked with several finance directors and has helped guide the City through several fiscal challenges.”


The City of Watsonville is honored to work with Marissa as we continue to innovate, engage, and work to improve the quality of life for everyone in our community.


𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗔Ñ𝗢𝗟

El Administrador de la Ciudad de Watsonville, René Méndez, ha nombrado a Marissa Duran como la nueva Directora de Servicios Administrativos de la Ciudad.


Duran comenzó su carrera con la Ciudad de Watsonville en el Departamento de Finanzas en 1996 como Analista Financiera y Contadora, donde mantuvo el sistema de contabilidad de la Ciudad y realizó varias funciones analíticas.


En el 2020, fue ascendida a Subdirectora de Finanzas y supervisó las operaciones diarias, incluyendo la contabilidad, las cuentas por pagar, las cuentas por cobrar, y preparó el Informe Integral de la Ciudad. A fines del 2022, Marissa se convirtió en Directora Interina de Servicios Administrativos.


“Me siento verdaderamente honrada y emocionada de aceptar el nombramiento y el cargo de Directora de Servicios Administrativos de la Ciudad de Watsonville”, dijo Duran. “Tengo muchas ganas de seguir trabajando con un equipo de personas tan increíble y seguir sirviendo a la gran Ciudad de Watsonville”.

  

Como Directora de Servicios Administrativos, Marissa supervisará todos los aspectos de la gestión financiera de la Ciudad, incluyendo la contabilidad, el presupuesto, la nómina y más.


“Somos afortunados de tener una persona tan inmensamente talentosa y calificada dentro de la organización para asumir el mando de este importante puesto”, dijo Méndez. “A lo largo de su carrera, Marissa ha trabajado con varios directores de finanzas y ha ayudado a guiar a la Ciudad a través de varios desafíos fiscales”.


La Ciudad de Watsonville tiene el honor de trabajar con Marissa mientras continuamos innovando, participando y trabajando para mejorar la calidad de vida de todos en nuestra comunidad.
